......................................................Getting Around. Taxi's are usually the best form of transport. Plentiful and cheap. All are metered and air conditioned.
It is better to hail a taxi rather than choose one that is parked as the parked ones are usually waiting for the tourists and refuse to use the meter and hence charge ridiculous prices. A few hundred meters walk can save you a lot of money!!!
Fares start from a minimum of 35 Baht. Typical fares are around 100 to
150 Baht to travel to most places in the city (approx US$3 to $4.50)
Tuk Tuks are a must if you have never been in one before. They are quick and agile though may be a little scary for the un-initiated. Not to be used when raining for obvious reasons.

Fares are similar to that of a taxi but must be negotiated before you get in. Bargaining is the way.
The Sky train is a very modern system that has 2 main routes (Chatuchak
to Sukhumvit Rd and National Stadium to the other side of Taksin bridge). They run approximately
every 3 minutes are fast, clean and air-conditioned.

Fares range from 10 to 40 Baht.
Available from 0600 - 2400 hrs
Buses are plentiful and range from the small old and battered green buses
to large fully airconditioned buses. Most buses are usually very crowded
and driven by the 'alledgedly' criminally insane.

There is an airport shuttle bus which takes you to most places in the city centre.
Fares range from 8 to 15 Baht (local buses) depending on distance and type. Still a bargain for the traveller who wants to experience the Thai way.
There is an undeground subway which runs from:
Bang Sue to Hua Lamphong which interconnects with three skytrain stations.
Fares range from Bt14 to Bt38.

The Airport Link operating between Makasan and Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport will now open in August 2010.
Commencing 1st June 2010. The airport link service is running a free trial service from Phya Thai to Suvarnabhumi and return with trains every 20 minutes from 07.00 to 10.00 hrs and from 16.00 to 19.00 hrs every day.
